During the summer season, we give our visitors a unique experience to attend the daily feeding and demonstrations of marine biology or chemistry.
Fort Verudela - Fort History
Through two centuries the fortress was under a military force. Built in 1886 by the Austrohungarian monarchy, and under her rule was to 1918th. Since 1918 until 1943 was under Italian military forces, and it was during this period that had lost its distinctive military look. In fact, it works with all metal objects were removed, along with imposing guns that are taken to Italy where they are molten. From 1943 to 1945 fort was used by German military forces.
After 1945 the fort fell into the Yugoslav military (JNA, Yugoslav People's Army) and remained under their rule over the next two years. From the 1950s on, the fortress became the property of the City, but it is in use by former hotel company „Veruda“, since 1975 known as "Arenaturist. For their needs it was used for shops, souvenir shops, a hairdressing salon and until late night hours citizens and tourists were feasted by roated chickens so. "Condors". The fortress was also known by the name "Club 33", or disco club, which was named after the Swedish guests younger than 33 years.
In the late eighties, the fortress is abandoned and becomes landfill and incineration of garbage.
