The Pula Marine Educational Center

The marine educational center (MOC) in Pula was founded in 2005 as a non-profit organization with the primary purpose of rehabilitating sea loggerhead turtles, as well as educating a wider scope of people. Working on the turtle rehabilitation later grew into a Sea turtles recuperation center, and is co-financed by the Environment Protection Office, the Croatian Ministry of Culture, and is as far as known the only center of the sort this side of the Adriatic. The MOC Pula is situated in the Verudela fortress, which has also been the home of the Pula Aquarium since 2002. As part of the aquarium exhibition, MOC Pula created a number of educational programs under the common name of "The Blue School“ for preschool and school children, as well as individual guests (Tourist programs ). „The Blue School“ takes place in the exhibition spaces of the Pula Aquarium, in the biology, chemistry, and physics practicums, on the shore, and on the boat. The educational programs offer a variety of theater plays for children featuring maritime subjects; as well as expert lectures, marking ecology days such as the «International turtle Day»; book promotions, and showing educational films.
